Debbie Todd is a portrait photographer based in the north-east.
A recent graduate with First Class Honours in Photographic Practice at the Northern School of Art she won the Anjool Malde Award and was shortlisted for the AOP Student Awards 2022. Debbie starts her masters at the NSA this September.
Her current project addresses everyday language and sayings and how this affects those with differences. Many of her subjects in this world tour are misjudged, stereotyped and under-represented within mainstream media. Her final images are retouched and include text that portrays some feelings of the sitter. The aim is to encourage diversity, enable others to consider the images, to understand the message they convey and to be more inclusive.
Debbie’s ultimate goal is to show that we are all individual human beings, with our own unique traits, who have a right to be well represented in the media and photographic industry.
